Harbor, Waterway and Coastal Engineering
1. Introduction
Harbor Waterway and Coastal Engineering belongs to the programs of hydraulics, mainly studies the basic theory knowledge of port engineering, waterway engineering and coastal engineering, receive basic training in drawing, measurement, calculation, experiment, comprehensive analysis and writing reports, with the basic ability of engineering planning, design, construction and management.
2. Training Objectives
The program trains senior engineering and technical personnel with the knowledge of the planning, design, construction and management of port engineering, waterway engineering, coastal engineering, can be engaged in the planning, design, construction and management at departments of transportation, water conservancy, coastal development.
3. Training Requirements
The students mainly study the basic theory and basic knowledge of port engineering, waterway engineering and coastal engineering, receive the basic training in drawing, measurement, experiment, comprehensive analysis and report writing, have the basic ability of engineering planning, design, construction, management, and has strong ability of access to knowledge, knowledge application and innovation ability.
4. Knowledge and Ability
1) Master the basic theory and knowledge of engineering mechanics, river and coastal dynamics and hydraulic structures;
2) Master the design methods of port engineering, waterway engineering and coastal engineering;
3) With the basic ability to engage in engineering planning, surveying, design, construction and management;
4) Familiar with the relevant norms, policies and regulations;
5) understand the development trend of port engineering, waterway engineering, coastal engineering and marine energy engineering;
6) Master the basic methods of document retrieval and data query, and have the ability of scientific research.

Engineering drawing, theoretical mechanics, engineering survey, material mechanics, structural mechanics, hydraulics, engineering hydrology, building materials, soil mechanics and foundation engineering, engineering geology, hydraulic reinforced concrete structure, river dynamics and waterway remediation, coastal dynamics, water transportation project construction, port layout planning, port hydraulic structures, canalization engineering, engineering economics, engineering project management.
6. Practical Teaching
Experimental course, curriculum design, production practice, graduation design etc., the general arrangement is 40 weeks.
7. Employment Prospects
The graduates can be engaged to the investigation, planning, design, construction, technology development, management and application research of port channels and coastal engineering project, can also be engaged in the related investment, development, finance, insurance and other work; through short-term on-the-job learning and practice, can also qualify for the surveying, design, construction and technical management of civil engineering, water conservancy engineering, marine engineering, municipal engineering and other similar programs.
